How to have the best year in 2024


Happy January Reader,

Everyone I talk to seems to be full of hope and enthusiasm for this new year. And so am I 🌈

What about you? Do you also feel this will be the best year, and you have a clear vision, tangible plans and energy to work on them?

I hope so! If not, hit reply and let me know what's missing - I may be able to help.

In the meantime, I have resources that could support you in figuring it out on your own…

For visioning, we need clarity, and tapping deep within ourselves. This blog can give you some pointers: ​Clarity Map for a Fulfilled Life​

For crafting effective plans, you need to be clear on your priorities. This can help: How do we focus on what matters most?

And for energy and motivation to work towards your goals — and generally feel good — I suggest looking at these 5 areas:

  1. Physical (nutrition, movement, sleep/rest, nature time, breathing)
  2. Mindset & Emotions (mindfulness of your thoughts, and learning to process challenging emotions)
  3. Social / Relationships (quantity and quality - can you be fully yourself with the people you’re with?)
  4. Spiritual (your connection with yourself, and connection with something greater beyond your individual self)
  5. Control vs Surrender: This is about balancing what you control in your life (your thoughts, actions, choices) vs. what you surrender (all that is outside of your control, like world events or other people’s opinion).

The last one is a major energy booster in itself!


There is much more I could say about optimising our energy and balanced approaches for achieving what we desire, but that can wait for another email.

Whatever you do, I suggest you find a way to make it joyful and fun. 💃

Life’s too short not to, and plus, we’re much more likely to stick with a new behaviour if we pair it with something fun - this is backed by science!

So put a fun song on to get some movement in, listen to your favourite podcast/audibook/music on your walk, or you could buy yourself a colourful meditation cushion to get that mindfulness time in…whatever works for you, the sky is the limit! :)

You know which part of you knows how to have fun? Your playful inner child 🤸‍♀️ So if you're stuck, why don't you ask it what he/she would do?

Furry (and not so furry) friends...

Do you love animals like I do? I grew up with dogs, turtles, a guinea pig, and rescued puppies my friends found abandoned in the forest. These days, I also adore cats 😸
Here's our cat Winston, who lived on the streets of East London for 2 years, poor thing, until we took him in, first as a foster cat (through RSPCA) and quite quickly decided to keep him for good 🧡 Best decision ever!
